In honor of all the innocent souls who were lost... for all the brave souls who stood and fell... may God bless us all, everyone... And may we never forget...

The tower siege: 3D chess game is a variant
of chess called 3D chess. 3D chess has existed
sense the early seventeen hundreds.
The tower siege: 3D chess game
presupposes a conflict between two armed forces
vying for the control of a multi-level structure, a
tower or castle. Although this is a variant of
chess the game adheres mainly to the basic
rules of chess.
The Tower Siege 3D chess Game's set up is unique from other 3D chess
games. As in standard chess, there are two sets of pieces, the White and the
Black. The pieces each set up on a separate level. The White pieces set up on
the first row of the first and second level; with the major pieces setting up on
the first row of the first level and the White Pawns setting up on the first row of
the second level. The Black pieces set up on the eighth row of the seventh and
eighth level; with the major pieces setting up on the eighth row of the eighth
level and the Black Pawns setting up on the eighth row of the seventh level.
The placement of the Pawns' creates a protective buffer between the major
pieces and the Pawn.
Terrorist have taken control of a downtown city office tower, they've taken hostages and have
made demands. They threaten to destroy the tower, themselves and the innocent victims within if their
demands are not met with promptly.
An elite team of anti-terrorist commandos have been alerted to the situation and are mobilizing, but at
the last minute, are informed that the terrorist have shot down several News, tourist and police
helicopters with shoulder mounted rockets; and threaten to destroy anyone or anything that approach
too close. Realizing they will not be able to reach the tower by helicopter the commandos’ leader
decide to embark upon a dangerous and daring plan, to execute a H.A.I. (High Altitude Insertion) onto
the roof of the office tower.
After successfully and stealthily inserting themselves onto the roof of the office tower, the commandos
secure the top two floors of the tower, and set up a command post. They quickly and quietly make their
way, floor by floor, through the tower.
The commandos encounter the terrorist.
A gun battle ensues.
The terrorist leader and his team are captured, the weapon of mass destruction is secured, disarmed
and the hostages are rescued.
White moves first, and then black. In the standard game of chess it was
advised to move the Pawns as little as possible, this was because the Pawns formed
a wall of protection from a frontal attack. In the tower siege game, (3D chess) the
same strategy apply, yet the danger doesn't come from a frontal attack but from a
dorsal (from below) and ventral (from above) attack. The major pieces should
shadow the Pawns' movement. The Pawns' should stay on their respective levels
during the opening , advancing across their level; and the major pieces should
stay on their level also advancing across. The major pieces position should match
that of their Pawns.
Once your pieces have been developed, and you are satisfied with there position the middle game begins. As in standard chess control of the center will ensure an easier win -- but capturing the King is still the major goal! The center is define by levels (iv and v) from those two levels your major pieces have a greater range of attack. Advance your pieces towards the center, particularly the Queen, hold the center, chew up your opponent pieces, and promote your Pawns as soon as possible.

Pawn promotion, in the tower siege game, occurs on two different levels
for each side. For the Black pieces Pawns may only be promoted when they
reach the first row of the first board and White pawns can only be promoted
when they reach the eighth row of the eighth board.
And no where else!

"A player may not make any move which places or leaves their king in check, even if the checking piece
cannot move due to a pin, i.e. Moving it would expose their own king to check. This also means that a player
cannot place his king on any square adjacent to the enemy king, because doing so would leave their king able to
be taken by the enemy king and therefore in check."
This is a basic rule that governs the King, this rule is satisfactory for a two dimensional environment, but this
rule is a bit under define for a three dimensional environment, so I choose to expand on this rule.
A player may not move his/her lone King to any board/ level that is solely occupied by an opponents piece,
even if doing so doesn't place the King directly into check, i.e. The King moves to level iv from level iii to get
out of a check, there is an enemy Queen on board iv; but the player moves to board iv anyway; on the next
move the Queen checks the King and the player spends the next few moves being checked and running for
his life.
